Gazbia Sirry is a painter who embraces life with her unique creativity, extensive culture and human entity. She had an objective, and she set out a difficult road to achieve this objective. She does not paint, but rather pours her soul, talent, intelligence onto the canvas. She was born to be the conscience of the nation with its hopes and pains, joys and grief.

Throughout all stages of her career, Gazbia's painting has been recognized as first-rate dramatic work, which allows the viewer to receive the message through clear forms, symbol and polished formulation. Moreover, her works appeal to the viewer's emotions and imagination, and pulls them into both her inner world, full of tension and overwhelming emotions, and the mythical world of her painting that fully engulfs the truth.

Gazbia is one of the most famous Egyptian artists of all time. She is notable among Egyptian artists for constantly pushing the formal dimensions of her work. She is also one of the few whose every step of artistic development is documented in the work (not just her thought). By looking at her oeuvre, you can also see the different ways she has actively engaged with art forms and styles from around the world, thereby debunking the idea that Egyptian modernists just initiated the Europeans. To me, her painting also reveal- to an unusual degree- the tide of change in modern Egypt and the ambivalent feelings that it can produce in the artist. One also gets the sense of Gazbia's interweaving of her personal and the political, and her commitment to always pushing the boundaries of each.
